“Overall, it was a superb evening of music making by the combined musical forces of the Asheville Lyric Opera and the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra. The audience gave the performers a well-deserved standing ovation during the curtain call. Bravo, Maestro Franz and company!”
-Timothy Guenther, Special to the Mansfield News Journal
“I have enjoyed my relationship with Asheville Lyric Opera very much, both in their home and on the road. David Starkey amasses very talented singers for each production which in turn provide a strong backbone to the quality performances they do. Asheville Lyric presents opera places quality singing at the core…the way opera should be done!”
-Robert Franz, Music Director Mansfield Symphony, Boise Symphony, and assistant conductor Houston Symphony
“As both a presenter and a producer I’ve have the privilege of working with David and Asheville Lyric on two previous occasions and we are looking forward to our third. David and his company are consummate professionals both on the stage and off. They come into our theatre prepared for their performance and willing to do any PR or community engagement events that we are able to schedule with them. In this difficult economy it’s so important that our artists be willing to be part of the solution, and they always are.”
-Brandon Smith General Manager Renaissance Theatre & Mansfield Symphony
“The Asheville Lyric Opera production of Barber of Seville was one of the most delightful I have seen. The company came to Macon in spring of 2008 and to this day I fondly remember the wonderful voices and amazing character portrayal. I smile every time I think about it.”
-Rosemary Spiegel, director Opera Guild of Central Georgia
